How will measures be identifed for inclusion in Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) in 2008? For 2008, per the Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006 (TRHCA), CMS must publish in the Federal Register by August 15, 2007, proposed quality measures that would be appropriate for physicians and other eligible professionals to use to submit data on the quality of the covered professional services these professionals furnish in 2008. Also per the statute, the final 2008 quality measures must be published by November 15, 2007. The Federal Register publication process provides for a formal 60-day comment period during which interested parties can review and submit comments on the proposed 2008 PQRI quality measures.
